Down2Night looks to keep young urbanites informed on the go (SeattlePI)

Synapse Corporate Solutions today is introducing a new service called Down2Night.com that sends text messages to subscribers cell phones about events at local bars, restaurants, theaters and music venues.

The service will first be available in Seattle, with the company planning to expand to other markets if the idea catches on. In order to entice users, the company says that the Down2Night text messages also will include discounts on food, cover charges and other items from local establishments.

I just tried to sign up, but it doesn’t look like they have fully launched yet as they did not ask me to input my favorite bars, clubs or lounges. I am curious if they will have any clubs from the Ballard neighborhood or if it will be more targeted to the downtown scene.

UPDATE: Mark Michael of Synapse tells me that the service will go live around 3 p.m. today and that they are working with 87 venues to start.
